What Happened: Inside The Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception" (2008, Public Affairs, New York, New York, 341 p.). I got the book on reserve from the Flint River Library system and give it 4/5 stars.
The author, Scott McClellan, served the Bush administration many years completing his service as White House Press Secretary in 2006. In reading, remember that McClellan was/is a Bush loyalist. Surprisingly, he is quite truthful and airs some hard opionions.
McClellan covers his journey with President Bush beginning with the campaign for Bush's first presidential term and ending with his experiences in and leaving the White House. McClellan takes the reader through big topics as 9/11, the Iraq War, WMD, and the Valerie Plame leak to mention a few. He gives insight on all those he worked with in the White House.
Nothing very new is covered, but the book is a good read. You will get some insight, some not pretty, from someone who respects Bush but is not afraid to give his true feelings.
