I watch a fair share of movies - I use a by-mail movie service. So, I thought I'd put one or two on here to share. To begin, this is from the movie jacket:
Starring Thandie Newton and Gerard Butler, director Guy Ritchie's crime thriller follows a variety of crooks from London's underworld who set out to nab millions of dollars left for the taking when a Russian mobster's real estate scam falls apart. The first part of a planned trilogy, RocknRolla co-stars Jeremy Piven, Ludacris, Tom Wilkinson, Gemma Arterton, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mark Strong and Idris Elba.
I'm a big fan of the British gangster movies. This one falls right into the category with "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels," "Snatch," "In Bruges," and "Layer Cake." As is usual with the genre, there's a little of everything. There's violence, dry wit, shenanigans, crime, and even romance all, surprisingly, tastefully done. I thought it was a hoot and sure to become a sleeper classic. I'll rent it and the others listed above many more times in the future.
Released 2008 and is out on DVD (also on Blue-ray). Rated R, 115 minutes.
