2 lg cans Bus's Best Baked Beans
1 lg onion
1 lg bell pepper
1 lb ground round (I use ground deer)
1 T garlic powder
1 tsp Liquid smoke (add more if you like)

Cut onion and bell pepper into 1/2 tp 2" strips and set aside. In Dutch oven, crumble and brown ground  meat. When meat is half cooked, add onion, bell pepper, and garlic powder. In separate dutch oven or crock pot, start heating the beans over low heat. When the meat is thoroughly cooked, and the onions and peppers are at least half done, drain the mix and add to the beans. Allow to simmer at least one hour in Dutch oven or all day in slow cooker on low. Can double recipe for large gathering or cut in half for family meal.

This recipe comes from the Pike Primary Treasure Book of Recipes and was submitted by James Westbrook.
